Biography
Kim Addonizio is the author of eight books of poetry. She’s also written two novels, two story collections, a memoir, Bukowski in a Sundress: Confessions from a Writing Life, and two books on writing poetry: The Poet’s Companion (with Dorianne Laux) and Ordinary Genius.
“Kim Addonizio’s voice lifts from the page, alive and biting—unleashing wit with a ruthless observation,” writes the San Francisco Book Review of her poetry. In Now We’re Getting Somewhere (2021), an inventive salvo against existential gloom, Addonizio’s wry and wicked poetic persona is evident. It also imbues earlier books, including Tell Me, a National Book Award finalist, and Mortal Trash, an exploration of life’s beauty and absurdity that was awarded the Paterson Poetry Prize.
Among other honors, Addonizio has been awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and two Pushcart Prizes. She teaches in the MFA program at Goddard College in Vermont and lives in San Francisco.
